Hi, my name is Tracey and I am an experienced English language and literacy teacher, including Functional Skills. I enjoy working with learners who need a little extra time, attention and patience. In my spare time I run yoga classes in my spare time and teach lipreading to adults.
My teaching journey began in France teaching English to adults followed by 5 years working in schools and resource bases for deaf children from primary to 16+. I specialise in helping children and young people overcome challenges related to reading, writing and general communication. I have dedicated the past 13 years to working in the UK with children with speech, language and communication difficulties, and special educational needs, including deafness. I have successfully guided students through English Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3, and Functional Skills Levels 1 and 2 for the past 13 years and enjoyed teaching French at KS3 in a specialist setting. I have supported students in GCSE French and English and university students in academic study.
I like to create a positive, fun and engaging learning environment, encourage a can do attitude and help students to develop independence in learning. Seeing their confidence grow and enjoyment of learning develop is a great reward and all steps, no matter how small, are celebrated. I approach my students with patience, compassion and a desire to see them grow in confidence. I enjoy helping students identify gaps in their language development, and working together to bridge them. No matter how small, every step is an achievement and celebrated.
