I am experienced,student-centred tutor who currently teaches in Higher Education. My qualifications include a teaching qualification from the Institute of Education, University College London as well as a BA in Modern Languages. My approach to teaching is very student-centred, flexible and results oriented. I try as much as possible to make sure my students experience improvement in their subject, from day one. As well as support them in achieving their goals.
I am now offering GCSE English (Language and Literature) revision lessons from September, for those taking exams in May/June 2025.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught for over 15 years in various teaching capacities, including in the commercial sector where I delivered workshops and training. I currently work in the HE sector, where I am involved in teaching Academic Study Skills and English for Academic Purposes and as an Additional Language. I also teach privately, where I assist undergraduate students and foreign individuals who are looking to improve their English or take exams such as CAE and IELTs.

Tutoring Approach

I use a variety of teaching methods and approaches to work very closely one to one with such students. I attempt to understand student's motivations for seeking support and adapting my teaching accordingly. I believe in providing home work and self-directed study tasks to enable students take ownership of their learning. I see my role as a tutor as not just a conveyor of information but also as a facilitator who enables their student reach their full potential. I try to encourage and motivate as much as possible.
