Hello! I’m Val, a patient and passionate tutor based in Birmingham, offering Maths and Science tuition for students aged 5 to 16. I teach maths for students aged 5 to 14 (KS1 to KS3). I teach sciences (combined or separate) up to GCSE level, ages 5 to 16.

I hold a BSc in Internet Design and an MSc in Digital and Social Media Marketing, and I’ve always been drawn to logical, structured subjects like Maths, Physics, Biology & Chemistry.
With a strong academic scientific background from my earlier medical studies (up to 5 years in the medical school), I have a solid understanding of science and problem-solving skills that I now use to support younger learners.
I help students build confidence through clear explanations, worked examples, and lots of encouragement. Whether your child is catching up, preparing for KS3, building strong foundations for GCSE or preparing for GCSE, I offer structured and engaging lessons tailored to their needs.

Tutoring Experience

While I’m new to formal tutoring, I bring a strong academic and scientific background, having previously studied scientific courses, I developed a solid understanding of Biology, Physics, and Maths. I also hold a BSc and MSc in digital and technical fields, which reinforce my strength in logical and analytical thinking.

Throughout my academic life, I’ve helped peers and friends understand difficult topics in both science and maths, often turning complex concepts into simple, easy-to-follow steps. I now bring that same clarity, structure, and calm teaching style to younger learners — focusing on students from ages 5 to 16 (KS1 up to GCSE).

I offer tuition in Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and general science for pre-GCSE learners. My focus is on building foundational understanding and confidence so that students feel capable and ready as they move toward GCSE-level work.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons are designed to be clear, flexible, and tailored to each student's pace and needs. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and gradually become independent, confident learners.
Each session is built around:
A short warm-up to check prior understanding
Step-by-step explanation of the topic using real-world examples or visuals
Guided practice using questions and problem-solving tasks
Recap and review to reinforce the key ideas

I am happy to offer customised sessions ranging from 1hr up to 3 hours in one go, depending on the student's goals, attention span, and availability. Whether the student prefers short weekly support or deep-dive extended sessions, I’ll structure the time to maximise clarity and progress.
