Warm, professional secondary English teacher, with experience of classroom teaching, GCSE exam marking, intervention work, mentoring and private tutoring.
Group tutoring and lower cost options available.
I am a qualified English teacher and have taught in a number of schools throughout my career. Last year my students (and their parents) nominated me for a Pearson Teaching Award.
As well as being a classroom teacher, I have developed, run and been involved in intervention programs at KS3, KS4 and KS5, working with a full range of ability, from literacy groups to students listed as gifted and talented.
I have previously privately tutored students who have asked for extra help alongside my 'day job' but have now decided to tutor full-time.
My approach to tutoring is unique, in that I believe in raising students' levels of confidence as well as their ability. There is a wealth of research that indicates a correlation between how a student sees their own ability and how they achieve in school, so attempting to raise one without the other is often ineffective and does not allow students to reach their full potential (as well as making learning a miserable business!).
My tutoring is effective because I develop highly personalised programs that support, challenge and engage students in the most enjoyable way possible.
