I have relocated back to the UK from New Zealand where I was a member of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, a full-time professional symphony orchestra and the national orchestra of New Zealand where I performed and continued to teach.
Previous to moving to NZ I was based in London where I was a busy teacher and freelance performer teaching privately and at Dame Alice Owen's School, Ashmole Academy, Enfield Music Service, East Barnet Music Service and West Sussex Music Service. I performed regularly with orchestras such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, The Hallé, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra amongst others as well as working regularly in London´s West End playing in musicals such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Gypsy starring Imelda Staunton at The Savoy Theatre.
I am currently a Woodwind Tutor and Whole Class Instrumental Tutor for Gloucestershire Music Service. I have extensive experience teaching Bassoon, Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano and Theory privately, at primary and secondary schools as well at conservatoire and university level. I teach from ages 6/7 years to adult, total beginners upwards, 1 to 1 lessons as well as group lessons and I am happy to have parents observing lessons. Current DBS Certificates and Safeguarding Level 2 Certificate.
I teach a variety of styles and genres, specialising particularly in ABRSM examinations, Grade 5 Theory exams (to date I have never had a student achieve below a merit for their Theory exam), audition preparation and I will also accompany students for their first few exams if I am available, otherwise I will organise an accompanist if required. I have a 100% success rate and can give guidance with GCSE and A Level composition assignments.
