My name is Viktoria. I am a private, self-employed English and Greek language tutor offering my services in London. I am a teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I have a bachelor's Degree in English and Greek language from the National University of Athens (2010) and an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the Hellenic Open University (2018). I have a Qualified Teacher Status by the Department for Education (2015). I specialise in the following areas:
• General English Tutoring
• Business English
• Exam Preparation (IELTS)
• Listening and Speaking
• Writing and Reading
• Grammar
• Proofreading
• English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
* Greek
I am friendly, flexible, patient, and can adapt lessons to suit your needs. I have a very reasonable hourly rate. I offer a free first session where I can assess your needs.
I began teaching English in 2008 in a foreign language school in Greece. I have subsequently worked in different areas of Greece and the UK. I have also worked in Gloucester on young learner residential courses and as an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) tutor at the University of Nottingham. For 10 years, I was a volunteer camp counsellor and team coach at kids’ camps in Greece. Also, for 12 months, I was a teaching assistant at a Primary School in Derby, and I was also a supply teacher for 2 years in Derbyshire. I have prepared students for SATs, supported EAL and SEN students individually in literacy and maths, Year 11 students in Foundation GCSE Maths and English intensive PET-Xi Courses. I was a sessional tutor at Nottingham Trent International College (Kaplan) teaching academic English courses to Foundation students. I have been teaching private students, face-to-face and online, since 2009.
In 2019 - 2021, I was a pre-sessional tutor at the Centre of English Language Education (Nottingham University). I was employed by Derby Adult Learning Service (Derby City Council) as a tutor of English (ESOL) in 2018 - 2023.
At the moment I teach English to speakers of other languages at Removed Education Service and RemovedFamily Centre in Bow.
I prefer one-to-one or one-to-two tutoring for adults, but I am very resourceful, flexible and can adapt lessons to suit your needs. I can bring my own books or make use of the ones you have. I can teach face-to-face or online, where I can record our lesson for you to play back in your own time. Technically, I prefer to use an inductive approach - guided teaching through discovery, e.g. grammar rules. I am flexible about using this methodology, however. If you want to focus on a specific area of English, I can adapt the lesson to suit your requirements. You would always be able to change how and where I teach you.
