Hi! I'm Viveka - a 28 year old Philosophy and R.E teacher. I have also worked as a German teacher, and studied Philosophy and German at Oxford.

Tutoring Experience

As a teacher, I have a good understanding of how children/young people learn, what the common difficulties in learning are and how to overcome them, and the requirements of exam boards. I'm also familiar with the process of applying to universities (particularly Oxbridge and Russell groups), both from personal experience and through helping my students through the process.

I am a keen writer myself, and enjoy teaching essay writing; focusing on how to plan and structure a good essay, and on what good academic writing looks like.

I am used to dealing with common stumbling blocks preventing good progress at school, and have successfully worked with students to find ways to overcome these.

Tutoring Approach

I love tutoring, because I am able to tailor my teaching to the individual I am teaching and find that, working one on one, so much progress can be made so quickly. My tutoring will be adjusted to your exact level, avoiding that awful thing that can happen in the classroom where the discussion moves too quickly for you, and you cannot benefit from the teaching.

Depending on the exact nature of what you need help with, I can offer very informal, relaxed sessions, or something much more structured. I'm happy to plan and follow a scheme of lessons to cover a whole course, or to work on specific skills.
