I hold a MA in Classics from the University of Reading. I have also studied English at undergraduate level and have taken a Masters module which has included historical work. I have taught Latin, Classical Civilisation, Politics and History to A-Level and Ancient Greek. I also hold a level 4 award in SEN teaching. I currently lecture in Further Education but have experience teaching in schools from 11-18 and tutoring from common entrance up. I am very interested in online learning and blend this into my teaching, whatever the situation. I love the diversity of subjects which I teach and I hope to pass this on to my students.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored students of differing levels and abilities over the last 12 years as well as having taught in schools catering for students ages 11-18, including public examinations. Furthermore, I have taught at university as well as students at common entrance. I am also a GCSE and A-Level marker.

Tutoring Approach

Everyone deserves a chance to reach their full potential. I believe in this firmly. I also think that in order to achieve this potential a student must feel confident in their subject and this comes with practise. There is no way around that! However, this does not mean that tutorials have to be dull. There are a variety of different ways to approach learning dependent on how the student learns. I assess the needs of each learner and develop teaching strategies based on those needs. When teaching, I have a positive reinforcement attitude - every achievement should be recognised and used as a basis for further development.
