A highly experienced English Teacher in a local academy, I am very professional and take my role very seriously. After graduating in 1993, I worked in IT/Marketing for 10 years before taking a year off to travel. Upon returning, I decided to change jobs to a much more rewarding one; one that allows me to challenge myself whilst constantly challenging others. Becoming a teacher is the best career move I have ever made.

Tutoring Experience

I am currently working as an English Teacher in a local academy school, where I hold an additional position of responsibility. With 15 years experience of teaching English Language and Literature, I am fully versed with the national curriculum for KS3 and the recent GCSE changes. Privately, I have been tutoring locally for the last 5 years with exceptional results.

Tutoring Approach

I aim to gain the confidence of the students by ensuring I find out their strengths and weaknesses as quickly as possible. The students interests/hobbies are often incorporated into my resources to help ensure that the students enjoy the sessions and enjoy their learning. Students are taught skills which enable them to answer any exam question and not just specific ones. In addition they are taught key subject content and given resources such as past papers and revision guides to aid their understanding. The sessions are often enjoyable yet always relevant.
