Originally from the west of England, I moved to London 10 years ago to start my teaching career. Prior to this, I taught English overseas in South Korea for 4 years after graduating with a BA degree in History from the University of Leeds. I love travel, photography, food, football and of course History!
I am qualified History teacher with 10 years of experience of working in state secondary education in England. I am the Head of History in my current school, a position I have held for over 3 years. I have overseen some of the department's best results this year, with 57% of our GCSE cohort achieving 7+ grades, and 55% of our A-Level cohort achieving A or A* grades. I have taught GCSE and A-Level History, and also recently led the new Politics department at A-Level.
I am very passionate about History, and I find it very rewarding to inspire a similar love and curiosity of the subject. My teaching approach aims to quickly diagnose strengths and gaps in student knowledge, with a view to quickly finding and correcting misconceptions quickly so the student can quickly make good progress. I have a very good knowledge and experience of teaching various exam boards at GCSE and A-Level.
