I am an aspiring chemist who is currently about to begin studying at university. Going through school, I found that, as my friends had a challenging time understanding tricky concepts, I really enjoyed the puzzle of finding an alternate way to break down complex concepts into sizeable chunks. It was this motivation that drove me to volunteer to teach the local primary school kids every week.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for 2 years. I have taught Year 6 students from neighbouring state primary schools Maths and Science weekly. Furthermore, I have also tutored Year 11 GCSE students for Chemistry and Maths in preparation for their public examinations.

Tutoring Approach

Extensive academic research show that multitasking is difficult for humans. This means that tutoring sessions will be split into two stages: firstly, mastering the majority of the content; afterwards, I will focus on the exam technique and preparation. It is often the second stage that has the largest superficial contribution, but the first part is arguably more important. I encourage a policy of transparency - these tutoring lessons should feel like a safe space to ask any questions about subject concepts. By being your tutor, my goal is to act as a guide for easing you through the exams not by strenuous didactic teaching, but by building confidence in your own abilities to problem solve: a skill that is rarely built upon in today's education.
