Having studied politics and sociology at A level and received a high first class honours at undergrad in Politics and Anthropology, I am deeply fascinated and have a vast knowledge of these subject areas.
I'm 24 years old, live in North London and, aside from tutoring, am a Civil Servant working in a national government department.
I've tutored on an ad hoc basis for the last few years where I've been able to support students move up several grades.
My teaching style is adaptable and depends on what students want out of sessions. I tend to start with tutees by thinking about the timeline of future sessions and any goals we want to accomplish by the end of our work together. My only strong stance is that I want tutees to be open and honest throughout our work should things not be clear or our sessions not useful.
For GCSE/ A level students, I make sure to tailor all work to the appropriate exam board syllabus. When preparing for exams, planning, writing and being confident with essay plans is just as important as learning subject content. I have successful techniques for improving both.
For undergrad students, I can also help with preparations for exams but more usually support with essays/dissertations. Any good piece of writing needs time for researching, planning, drafting and re-drafting - I can support with study skills on each stage and as well as giving subject specific advice and pointing towards useful research.
I'm flexible with where/how I teach and while I like to have an initial session in-person, sessions over video call may be more practical.
