I am currently a EYFS teacher in a local primary school. Having qualified 4 years ago, I am up to date with the necessary training needed to provide the best education to children. I specialise in early childhood and I excel in teaching reception, year 1 & year 2 aged children.
Before becoming an EYFS teacher, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school for 6 years. I have experience in most year groups therefore I have a great knowledge of the end of year expectations for a wide range of year groups. I am familiar with the curriculum for all year groups in the primary setting, however EYFS and KS1 are where I pride myself on being extremely confident and knowledgeable. I am trained in a range of phonics schemes and thoroughly enjoy teaching these.
I believe the most important aspect of teaching is building a great relationship with the children. This is imperative and I will spend the first session getting to know the child and building a relationship with them. I am very calm and patient with my approach to teaching. I am quick to think on my feet and I can adapt lessons if I notice the children have a misconception or are not understanding the concept being taught. I am adaptable and can change my style of teaching to suit the needs of the children. I make learning engaging and fun (especially for the younger learners), providing games and different activities to ensure the children are learning alongside having fun! I will also ensure younger learners have quick brain breaks to keep them engaged!
