Since graduating from the University of York in 2015, I have completed a number of marine and environmental contracts. These have included working as a marine biologist, working as a senior wildlife officer for a whale and dolphin conservation charity, and working for a natural history museum. My work has taken me to various different locations including a marine station in the Atlantic, New Zealand, and Bethlehem. I have experience in a range of areas such as animal rehabilitation and release, surveying, and environmental education.
I achieved an A grade in my biology A-level, and further improved my knowledge of biology through my degree, master’s, and career. I also have a current DBS check. Apart from biology, my interests include paragliding, fossil hunting, and rock music.
I have experience of teaching through various environmental contracts. This has included creating and delivering lectures and activities about marine biology during my work as a senior wildlife officer and leading school trips (activities included fossil hunting, pond dipping, animal tracking, plant identification, and river studies).
I believe that the key to succeeding in any subject is to understand the concepts involved rather than simply memorising facts. I love biology, particularly ecology, and look forward to sharing this with you. My experience of working in marine conservation means that I have real-world examples of many of the topics covered in the course. I enjoy working with young people, and look forward to helping you with your studies.
