My name is Yusuf and I am a 4th year medical student at Kent and Medway Medical School. I previously completed an undergraduate degree in Applied Medical Sciences from UCL, achieving a 2:1 with honours.
Knowledge is the key to success and without it there is nothing. My life passion has therefore become to learn, understand and spread it to others. My life journey thus far, particularly my academic career, has taught be the importance of education and how it can can help you in all aspects of life. Not just has knowledge benefitted me in my career path, but also in other very important aspects of life including: spiritually, physically, mentally and socially. Knowledge has also taught me the importance of balance and engaging in as much as possible. I am a very family and community oriented person , with a love of helping, volunteering and getting involved in a variety of projects I feel passionate about. I am also a keen player and watcher of sports, and this has taught me a number of skills useful for life particularly discipline and organisation. Balancing all these things has also moulded me into a very organised and time oriented individual. Every second is valuable and something you will never get back.
Over the years I have l gained a lot of experience teaching, both privately and part of a major tuition centre, ranging from 11+ up until A-level. My 7 years of teaching experience thus far has allowed me to gain valuable insight into the education sector. I have picked up valuable techniques relating to planning, organisation, student engagement and information retention. I have applied many of these techniques in my own education, and this has been a means of great academic success.
I promote a very active and tailored teaching style, keeping my students engaged at all times. I believe in a practical approach to teaching, focussing on tackling questions and taking the learning points from mistakes. I like to set work in between sessions and focus on the weakest points of the students knowledge to help them become a more well rounded individual. I regularly track every students progress and encourage regular feedback sessions with parents. A practical and active approach is the best approach to learning and achieving results.
