I am a friendly and approachable French tutor based in Corsham, Wiltshire. I am a fluent French speaker, having lived in France for several months before beginning my Linguistics degree at the University of Cambridge. I enjoy working with students on an individual level to identify their learning style and target their weaknesses.
In addition to my passion for language, I have wide-ranging personal interests. I thoroughly enjoy music and reading and I am also a blue belt in kickboxing!
During my time in Tours, I gave weekly individual English lessons to French students. Upon returning to England, I also led group French conversation classes for adults. I am currently working full-time as a teaching assistant in Wiltshire for secondary-age students with special educational needs (SEN). My most recent job also involved making regular phone calls to France and French-speaking Canada.
In addition to French and English lessons, I also have experience teaching piano and kickboxing to students of all ages. Through this experience I have learnt all sorts of different techniques for both individual and group classes for a variety of disciplines.
I strongly believe that the best way to teach is to connect to a student on an individual level and figure out which techniques work best for them. I encourage learning through self-discovery – I believe that students stand a higher chance of remembering information if they are encouraged to find an answer themselves instead of just being told. I am also aware that learning is a lot easier when the topic in question is fun!
