Personal Description:

I am a friendly and nerdish Italian, who loves learning and randomly quote historical anecdotes. I am in love with my language and my culture, and I am very knowledgeable about my pastas. I graduated in French, have lived in France for years, and use French for my research on a daily basis - I know your struggle, my fellow learners!

Teaching Experience:

I tutored in the Italian, French, and History departments of the University of Edinburgh for the past five years, and I worked with the institute of advanced learning at the university as Writing Advisor for postgraduate students. I also have 5+ years of experience as private Italian tutor, both one-to-one and in groups of up to 5 people. I have also freelanced as a tutor for a private language school and for the Institute of Italian Culture of Edinburgh.

Teaching Approach:

With languages, I value practice above everything: keeping the conversation flowing is essential. However, every student is different - ideally we would meet the first few times to experiment with a few exercises, and see where your interests, strengths and weaknesses lie.

There’s a relaxed atmosphere during the classes; you feel chilled, the classes are not overwhelming, you feel confident enough to talk and make mistakes as many times as it takes. She already thought me a lot and I was able to use my knowledge in a short period of time in Italy and thanks to her I got some good feedback about it. I thank her! :)

Benedetta is an extremely friendly, relaxed, and amazing teacher. She challenges you but also encourages you. Each lesson is catered to what you want to improve on, but also to improve your cultural understanding. She also asks what you would like to study or what topics interest you to encourage a better understanding. Overall a wonderful and fabulous teacher.
Benedetta has been very flexible working with our schedule, which changes between school and holidays.

Benni always has fun ways to introduce grammar, and she always makes sure that I understand the concepts before moving on. Benni is very great with communication and making sure to always respond to emails if I have questions, and she is always on time to our lessons. Overall I would recommend Benni as a tutor for anyone, she's very personable, making me feel comfortable during our lessons and over the past few weeks I am already seeing major improvements I wouldn't have without her help.
