Personal Description:

I'm a composer and music teacher. I love writing for orchestra and opera, discussing creative ideas, and helping students achieve their learning goals.

I have 8+ years of teaching experience and offer lessons in music theory, composition, general music, and Higher Music.

As a composer, I've written for Dutch National Opera, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, RSNO, BBC NOW, Concertgebouworkest Young, and LPO.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught at schools as a music teacher teaching general music to pupils aged 8-19. I've also taught music theory at Junior Conservatoire, was a Lecturer in Harmony at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and taught composition group lessons to first year music students at Cardiff University. I have a teaching degree, a Master in Musicology: Communication and Education, a Bachelor and PgDip in Composition, and am finishing a PhD in Composition.

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher, I am friendly and easy going. My aim is for you to come away from each lesson feeling motivated and confident. I will ask about your learning goals, what you are interested in, and how you like to learn. I then offer a suggestion of what to work on in the lesson. I'll make notes as we work to help prepare for any follow-up lessons, and where helpful, can offer a short written summary of what we discussed in the lesson.
