I am 50 years old and married with children.
Professional, experienced, diligent, patient and personable!
26 years full time teaching experience from 11-19 and adult tuition.
I am an Advanced Skills Teacher and I enjoy helping my students get excellent results.
I teach ICT, Geography and Computer Science (Computing) at KS3, GCSE and A Level and Maths at GCSE.
I am an experienced exam marker and work for the three leading awarding bodies at GCSE, A Level and Functional Skills.
I plan thoroughly after assessing each individual student's needs. I listen carefully to requirements or find these out very quickly when students are unsure about exactly what help they need. Whilst I want students to achieve good results at a fast pace, deepening understanding is important.
I provide very focussed help with coursework in ICT/GEOG/COMPUTER SCIENCE including project ideas, data collection and project design - helping students get started on the right project is key to their success and I have loads of ideas.
I teach to whatever learning styles a student has - and tailor my resources or create new ones to ensure sessions are challenging and engaging.
It goes without saying that a key part of tutoring for many students is to improve their examination performance. This obviously requires improving knowledge and understanding of the course content and subject material but exam technique plays an enormous role in applying what a student knows. My experience as a teacher and as an examiner allow me to give students the skills they need to succeed in deciphering and answering questions to achieve the highest marks.
