Maths is a subject that many people struggle with and the effects of the pandemic on education has only heightened this however I am passionate about changing this. By making maths relatable to every day life and highlighting each persons strengths and successes I have supported many students to achieve their desired grades and most importantly to develop an enjoyment of maths. I am keen to ensure that despite the pandemic all students can get the education they deserve.
I graduated from UCL with a 2:1 in Maths and Business and since then have gained extensive experience tutoring maths from primary up to GCSE level. I have worked with a wide range of students from all different backgrounds and with a range of behavioural, social and emotional needs. I also have experience tutoring online and find this can work just as well as in person.
Every person learns differently so I use an adaptive approach to adapt the learning to meet the needs of each student. I currently work in mental health so I have extensive training and experience supporting people with common mental health problems such as anxiety and low self esteem which I have found invaluable in supporting my students too. I strongly believe in the importance of building a good rapport with each of the students I work with to enable them to feel comfortable to discuss any difficulties they may be going through. Through my experience it is often these factors which prevent someone from achieving rather than their academic ability. Therefore I believe in offering a pastoral approach to learning in order to build confidence and enable each student to realise their full potential.
