I have a first class degree in Physics from the Open University, and have also completed a PGCE. I have several years of experience of tutoring both maths and physics, and find working one-to-one or in small groups more rewarding than classroom work. I am now working both online and face to face.
I have worked in school as a physics teacher, and have successfully tutored students in both maths and physics up to A level, and also in Biology and Chemistry for GCSE.
This varies to suit the individual and what they need, and at least part of the first session is spent assessing what would be most useful for the individual student. Establishing basic understanding is important. Having spent time teaching in schools (and also having children who have gone through the school system) has given me a good understanding of the requirements of different exam boards, so sessions can also be focused on exam success.
Currently I am using Skype plus an online whiteboard programme for online tutoring, and this has worked well since the start of lockdown in 2020. I can make notes from the session into pdf files and send them to students if required.
