David

I am an experienced maths teacher and tutor teaching pupils face to face and on line during Covid. I have always been passionate about Maths and teaching. I enjoy enabling children to understand mathematics, be confident and perform well in their exams. I have a 1st class honours degree in Mathematics and MA in econometrics. I have taught Maths in a couple of schools in the area but enjoy tutoring Maths one-to-one much more. Previously, I had a successful career in Business. But my passion is to help pupils working at GCSE and A level develop their mathematical skills and prepare for exams to gain better than anticipated grades.

Tutoring Experience

I am experienced in teaching and tutoring pupils in Maths individually and in small groups in preparation for GCSE and through A level. Maths and statistics have been central to both my business and teaching careers. I love the challenge of bringing pupils up to speed in mathematics, making maths fun and ensuring they are prepared to perform well in exams. I have helped many pupils prepare for their GCSEs and A level and to achieve higher than expected grades in their exams.

Tutoring Approach

I like to understand my pupils and what motivates them so I can engage with them. Together we can then focus on the areas of mathematics that pupils want to make improvement and understand or topics they do not understood as well as teaching new concepts. My focus is on enabling pupils to understand subject areas so they can deal with any exam questions now but develop their understanding for use in the future. I always emphasise that It’s OK for pupils to make mistakes, I can help them understand where they make mistakes. This is often the best way to learn. I have helped many pupils prepare for their GCSEs and A level and to achieve higher than expected grades while at the same time having fun while they develop their skills.
