I am a qualified French teacher (graded OFSTED 'outstanding') with a 1st Class Honours Degree in French and Psychology. My current tutees have moved from limited knowledge of French to GCSE material in just under a year. I am extremely passionate about French and have an exceptional understanding of the language.
My experience with French includes:
* Private French Tutor (6 years)
* French & Psychology Teacher & Assistant Head of Year 7 (3 years)
* PGCE & QTS Qualification in teaching French and Psychology. Grade received: Outstanding
* 1st Class Honours - French & Psychology (award received for graduating with the highest grade in French)
* Work in France - Language Assistant, Air France, Paris (1 year)
* Work in France - Au Pair (Nanny, Summer Job)
* AS Advanced Grammar - l'Institut français, London
* AS Advanced Grammar - Montpellier, France
For me, tutoring gives the student the opportunity to really delve into areas which are unclear to the individual. It creates an environment where the student can ask any 'silly' question they want without feeling embarrassed in front of their class. Especially with French, quite often students are too shy to speak in class. I try and create a space where the student can practice and perfect their pronunciation to really increase their confidence.
I will always plan the lessons in advance, either a topic of the pupil's choice, or areas which I can see, and have assessed, need further development.
I will continuously use questions and examples to check understanding. However, one thing I won't do is the student's homework!
