I am a fully qualified secondary school maths teacher with a BSc in Mathematics. I have been very successful as a teacher and tutor with a wide range of different academic abilities. I offer tutoring to all ages. I have a full current DBS (criminal records check).
I have a 100% pass rate with the new 9-1 GCSE's. All my pupils from the 2017 through to 2023 passed their GCSE's. Some of the successes include a pupil moving from a predicted grade 6 to a grade 9 and another moving from a 5 in his December mock exam to a grade 8 in his March mock exam, gaining the award for most improved result in the whole school and then went on to achieve a 9 in his GCSE's. Another pupil who moved from a grade 2 to a grade 4. In total I had 14 final year students in 2017, 18 in 2018, 21 in 2019, 25 in 2020 and 23 in 2021, 26 in 2022, 18 in 2023 who all improved their grade and achieved grades 4-9 (C-A*+).
My primary school students from 2017 to 2023 all achieved the expected standard or above expected on their sats.

I have worked in both secondary schools and secondary schools with sixth forms. I have experience in intervention and one to one tutoring within a high school setting, delivering the intervention sessions in one high school and taking the responsibility of intervention coordinator in another. I have also prepared small groups of pupils for Further/Additional Maths at GCSE Level. I have been very successful in improving under achieving students to achieve their target grade both as a tutor and teacher. As a father I know how important our children achieving their best is to all parents. I have been tutoring mathematics full time since 2016 and thoroughly enjoy my work. All my students improve from their starting points and build up their confidence with the subject. I am fully up to date with changes in the curriculum both in the GCSE's (9-1 grades) and the new Primary school SATS.
I want all my students to be able to develop their understanding of mathematics rather than just learning how to answer a question. Confidence breeds success. I try to work with their class teacher in following the methods they are being taught at school but also realise that different methods may be appropriate if they are struggling. I set homework weekly which is assessed at the start each session unless it is a longer piece or exam paper which is taken away and marked and brought back to the next session. I plan topics which are linked to previous learning in order to develop the bigger picture of mathematics but have excellent subject knowledge so I'm able to change my plan if the student wishes to look at another area that might have arisen as a problem in school/college. I also like my students to be proactive and get in touch if they wish to cover a particular topic which wasn't mentioned at the end of the previous session. I have a good relationship with all the people I tutor, they are at ease to ask questions and all opportunity to praise is used to help raise confidence. My tutoring sessions are planned and individualised for the students needs. Homework booklets, workbooks and worksheets are provided for every session.
