Hello! Thanks for your interest in my tuition and home schooling services.
I am a qualified teacher (Qualified Teacher Status achieved with 'Outstanding') with five years' experience teaching in U.K. Secondary Schools.
Alongside achieving my QTS, I obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and previously achieved a First Class Honours Degree with Distinction in Philosophy and Psychology. My education and research has afforded me a keen appreciation of how effective thinking and learning actually occurs. I bring this knowledge with me, alongside my subject specialism, to ensure that maximum progress can occur in every session.
I have a range of outstanding, tried-and-tested resources available. As well as utilising the best resources from my places of work, I also create my own resources for other practitioners and parents to use (to date, my resources have been downloaded over 30,000 times on the teaching website Tes.com.) All resources are included when purchasing my services.
I have been private tutoring for eight years and counting, assisting a range of students with diverse needs and targets. I have achieved outstanding results in entrance exams, SATs, GCSEs, A Levels and adult further learning qualifications.
Most importantly, my real success has been in watching students excel in their confidence and love of both English and Maths. These are such foundational subjects that their importance cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, the traditional school setting does not always foster enjoyment in these subjects, which is why one-on-one tutoring can give the student the attention and space to explore these subjects creatively and create a lifelong passion!
I'm up to date with the latest research in how learning occurs, and how to teach to assist with retention and retrieval, essential for achieving in mainstream assessments.
Crucially, I'm very mindful that students enjoy the learning process, experiencing the positive effects of understanding the world and being able to articulate this clearly. I work to increase students' confidence by positively and genuinely praising the level of effort applied, as opposed to any perceived 'ability'. Students therefore learn that good results come from hard work and perseverance, and can be achieved by absolutely anyone.
The attention and feedback that my one-to-one sessions offer is second-to-none! Every child, regardless of individual differences, will benefit from this expert attention.
I'm currently offering a 20% discount for online tutoring.
