Private Physics and Chemistry Tuition in Exeter

I studied Biology as an undergraduate, before going on to work in Insurance underwriting in the city. I then retrained as a teacher doing a PGCE and have been teaching up until last year when I stopped to look after my youngest daughter. I am happily married, and have 3 children of my own. When I have a spare moment I am usually found playing sport! Hockey is my first love, having played to national league standards, but I have spent the last 15 years racing bikes and most recently discovered the amazing game of Padel!

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching since 2009. In that time I have held variious school posts in the state and private sector. I have a strong academic background having been a lead science teacher in a private London secondary school. I also have significant pastoral experience from my years working as a head of year. And finally, I have a wealth of experince from holding wider school positions such as lead STEM teacher for a private Prep School, leading a schools Hockey coaching, Duke of Edinburgh school coordinator and teaching everything from A level Biology to politics, DT, sports and more.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to form a positive relational basis on which to personalise a plan to suit the needs of the student. I firmly believe that the role of a good tutor is in empowering the student to have the tools they need to be self sufficient. I achieve this by encouraging students to have a self awareness of their own learning styles and by giving them the confidence and methods they need to maximise their potential.
